ENCANTO: 2022-2023
Application deadline (extended): September 15, 2022

Enhancing and Nurturing Careers in Astronomy with New Training Opportunities (ENCANTO) encourages interested students from physics, astronomy, and engineering to apply for a new research opportunity! ENCANTO aims to provide underrepresented students with research experience and education in the field of astronomy, providing pathways for students into astronomy-related careers. ENCANTO represents an effort between multiple higher educational institutions (University of Puerto Rico: UPR-Humacao, UPR-Arecibo, UPR-Rio Piedras, Interamerican University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon, University of Central Florida-Orlando) as well as the Arecibo Observatory to provide research experience and build astronomy related knowledge and skills amongst interested students.

Undergraduate physics or engineering students from any university in Puerto Rico or UCF, Orlando, are encouraged to apply for the program. Preference will be given to final year students. The selected students will choose a research project from a wide range of projects offered by ENCANTO. Please visit www.naic.edu/ao/encanto <http://www.naic.edu/ao/encanto> to apply for the program and to see the projects offered or contact the faculty members.

ENCANTO is supported through the National Science Foundation (NSF) program, Partnerships in Astronomy & Astrophysics Research and Education (PAARE), under the grant AST-2219150
