Dear Colleagues,
	Please save the date—
		Lecture/Discussion: Thurs., 3rd March, 12 noon ET
Title: Fresh Beginnings at the Arecibo Observatory
Speaker: Dr. Anish Roshi, AO Radio Astronomy Head
Abstract: Arecibo Observatory restarted radio astronomy observations in
January 2022 using the 12m telescope. Also a number of new exciting
projects have been initiated in the past several months. These include
the development of a wideband (2.3 to 14 GHz) front end for the 12m
telescope, real time Fast Radio Burst detection with the 12m telescope,
and collaborative projects with the newly formed Center for Advanced
Radio Science and Engineering (CARSE), University of Puerto Rico,
Mayaguez. I will briefly discuss these projects in this talk.

Watch for the zoom link which will be sent 24-48 hours prior to the event

This event is the part of a series of ASAP “lunchtime” talks/discussions exploring
issues and proposals pertinent to Arecibo’s future. Some of the early talks will present
material developed by working groups in the recent NSF Workshop on Arecibo’s Future
—but now in more detail and with greater opportunities for questions and discussion.
Please see the areciboscience.org <http://areciboscience.org/> website for recordings of previous talks/discussions.

This is your opportunity to learn about and discuss proposals for exciting new
instruments for Arecibo. Please reserve the date.

		Best regards and wishes,
			ASAP Secretary
